We have had unseasonably warm temperatures so my Umbrella Palm is still green. These are great to use in flower arrangements. According to Wikipedia, “Cyperus alternifolius (umbrella papyrus, umbrella sedge or umbrella palm) is a grass-like plant in the very large genus Cyperus of the sedge family, Cyperaceae. It is native to Madagascar, but is frequently cultivated worldwide.” 1/7/12

Fibery Goodness 006
Here is some fiber I ordered from Miss Babs to spin. It is 80% Merino Wool and 20% Tussah Silk. The colorway is Chicory. I really enjoy spinning my own yarn and the more I do the better I seem to be getting. 1/6/12
Icy 005
This morning I watched a cardinal come to my water garden for some water. But it couldn't get any because the water was frozen. So I went out with my trusty hammer and broke up the ice for my little bird friends. 1/5/12
Reaching Out 004
When I look up at these branches, it looks like they are reaching for the sky. Even in the dead of winter, there is hope. I know that when spring comes, green leaves will appear and new growth begins again. 1/4/12
Cannas 003
I look at these and think about how beautiful these Cannas looked in the summer. They were tall green leaves and vibrant red flowers. Even when they are dead, there stalks show the life and strength they had. 1/3/12
